Random Acts Of Tidiness, Magnetic Island
'Random Acts Of Tidiness is a movement that encourages the whole community to participate in cleaning up after litter louts, and encourages everyone to take pride in their surroundings. Although we are very fortunate that many residents already take a bag for litter when they walk, we encourage everyone to be litter and rubbish conscious. As part of the Clean Up Australia Day on Sunday 2 March, remember to take a spare bag with you wherever you go, whether it's a walk down the roadd, on the beach or at the end of your street. Every bit helps. For ore information: www.whatsonmagneticisland.com.au/

Earth hour 2014

Calling all residents of Planet Earth…It’s Lights Out for the Reef.
Earth Hour was founded by WWF in Sydney in 2007 and has now been embraced by 7001 cities and 152 nations across the globe. And in 2014, Earth Hour will focus attention on one of the world’s most iconic and threatened places: Australia’s Great Barrier Reef.

As always, Earth Hour only works if you’re part of it. So we’re launching a special Earth Hour television event with Channel Ten to reveal the true story of what’s happening to the Great Barrier Reef due to climate change and more. Then we’ll turn out our lights to make a stand for our reef.
Join Townsville City Council, the WWF and people around the world in the largest voluntary action by turning off all your lights (and other electrical devices) for at least an hour.
When: Saturday 29th March, 8.30 to 9.30pm

Toad Day Out

Townsville City Council invites you to join the Operation Toad Day Out!
Get together with your friends, schools or scout groups and organise your very own Operation Toad Day Out this year. The challenge is to capture as many Cane Toads as you can, but they have to be captured alive and presented unharmed.
Help to protect and free your local area from this invader. Cane Toads have been a major environmental menace in North Queensland for decades. If left unchecked, Cane Toads will damage our natural habitat and threaten our local frogs population, not speaking of many other native animals that see the Toads as prey and succumb to their poison.
You too can join with the rest of your local community and play your part in reducing the numbers of these pests in a humane way.  FREE event!
Sponsored by Reading Cinemas and King Pin Bowling.
Where: Riverway, 20 Village Boulevard, Thuringowa Central
When:  8.30am to 12pm
