Food for Thought Townsville Monthly Gathering
We share handmade food and discuss lots of local-related and food-related topics. Bring a plate of food to share and a friend or partner if you like! Gold coin appreciated to cover venue costs. This is a BYO venue so alcoholic grape juice allowed. We have supplies for tea and coffee and filtered water.

JCU Sustainability Symposium and FairChallenging consumerism: The War on Waste
Join us for the second Annual Sustainability Symposium & Fair! This year local and international speakers will look at issues of consumerism and consumption in a series of short talks and a panel discussion; with a public lecture to be held in the evening. Read more... Live musician Tabi Sari will provide entertainment while you discover a variety of recycled, and creatively upcycled local businesses. Ride the Food Rescue bike to mix and sample a smoothie made from rescued excess fruits or get creative and make a recycled PET bottle flower! You’ll have the opportunity to view the stomach contents of a whale, or drop into a short workshop on hot and cold composting & worm farming. Be sure to catch the upcycled fashion parade and make a pledge to reduce your plastic bag use. There will also be the chance to discover the amazing work of Tangaroa Blue, or sign your businesses up to receive assistance to reduce waste. So come along, there’s a lot to discover at the Fair!
